You asked for maximum words but the system counts the status updates as per character. For twitter, the limit of character per tweets is 140, and for facebook, it has updated its characters limit in posting status, or posting into a friend’s wall from 500 to 63,206 while google + has a maximum character limit of 100,000.

Hello,

The answer for your question is simple:

1) Twitter has the word limit set at 140 but if your tweet contains URL it can be longer. Why? Because Twitter automatically shortens the URLs.

2) Facebook has the word limit set at 63206. Why 63206 words? Facebook engineer Bob Baldwin said : “I set the exact limit to something nerdy. Face Boo K … hex(FACE) – K … 64206 – 1000 = 63206

3) Google+ has the highest word limit : 100,000. However it's not an official information. Google+ just refuses to accept posts longer than 100000 characters.
