I will show you what is the common accepted value of them? I told common accepted value because sometimes they are different like one manufacturer may consider 1 Giga byte as 1,000,000,000 bytes instead of 1,073,741,824 bytes. OK then the smallest is bit, a bit whether the value 0 or 1. 1 byte come with 8 bit. 1 kilobyte come with 1024 byte. 1 megabyte come with 1024 kilobyte or 1024*1024= 1,048,576 bytes.1 gigabyte mean 1024 megabyte, 1,048,576 kilobyte or 1,073,741,824 byte. Last thing is 1 terabyte that can be mentioned as 1024 gigabyte or 1,073,741,824 kilobyte or 1,048,576 megabyte or 1,099,511,627,776 bytes.

These are basically terms that are usually used in computing, and they are used to describe things like disk space, the data storage space of the system and system memory. For example, in the recent past the hard drive disk space was described using the term Megabytes. But nowadays that will be a very low memory for a computer to have and it will result in to slowness, and therefore the gigabytes is the most common term  that you will find being used when it comes to describing the size of a hard drive.

But the terabyte is slowly becoming the common term, for people are moving towards systems that offer maximum speed of operation. See below for the conversion  between these terms.

· 1000 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte
· 1000 Kilobytes = 1 Megabyte
· 1000 Megabytes = 1 Gigabyte
· 1000 Gigabytes = 1 Terabyte

If you want to convert bytes to kilobytes and many other conversions, go to Bytes to KB Conversion. This will help you convert data values faster and easily. Now, for the values, see the following list:

  • Bit – this is a value of either 1 or 0 (on or off)
  • Nibble – 1 nibble is equal to 4 bits
  • Byte – 1 byte is equal to 8 bits. One character is 1 byte, for example, without quotes “a”
  • Kilobyte or KB – 1 KB is equal to 1,024 bytes
  • Megabyte or MB – 1 MB is equal to 1,048,576 bytes or 1,024 KB
  • Gigabyte or GB – 1 GB is equal to 1,073,741,824 bytes; 1,024 MB; or 1,048,576 KB
  • Terabyte or TB – 1 TB is equal to 1,099,511,627,776 bytes; 1,024 GB; or 1,048,576 MB
  • Petabyte or PB – 1 PB is equal to 1,125,899,906,842,624 bytes; 1,024 TB; 1,048,576 GB; or 1,073,741,824 MB
  • Exabyte or EB – 1 EB is equal to 1,152,921,504,606,846,976 bytes; 1,024 PB; 1,048,576 TB; 1,073,741,824 GB; or 1,099,511,627,776 MB
  • Zettabyte or ZB – 1 ZB is equal to 1,180,591,620,717,411,303,424 bytes; 1,024 EB; 1,048,576 PB; 1,073,741,824 TB; 1,099,511,627,776 GB; or 1,125,899,910,000,000 MB
  • Yottabyte or YB – 1 YB is equal to 1,208,925,819,614,629,174,706,176 bytes; 1,024 ZB; 1,048,576 EB; 1,073,741,824 PB; 1,099,511,627,776 TB; 1,125,899,910,000,000 GB; or 1,152,921,500,000,000,000 MB

At the moment, there are no approved standard sizes for anything bigger than Yottabyte as of 2018. Yet, hellabyte or brontobyte are the two standards that have been proposed.
