How to open AutoCAD shape sources and edit them

How do I open AutoCAD shape sources so I can edit them? My brother is a newbie user of AutoCAD and he’s getting confused with some files including shape files. I barely know this tool and it’s been a long time ago since I’ve used this for my projects. I hope this is just simple.

How to open AutoCAD shape sources and edit them

AutoCAD shape has an extension of .Shop, .Esri and .Shx this is the use of the fonts and symbols.

.Shape files contains points, polylines, and polygons while the six files are the index file. This is build-in to your AutoCad so you don't have to download nor install it. You can see these tools on the top of the screen in the toolbar or you can.

How to open AutoCAD shape sources and edit them

Hi Cynthhia Brown,

Good day. I recommend to you to not edit the pre-made shapes by AutoCAD but then, you may create your own shapes by creating blocks. You may use the Block command on the console, you can click the create button with shapes icon on the left side, you also can check the function at home > block > create. By creating them, you can edit them by entering the REGEDIT command
