I want to open AWD file in Windows Vista OS. Please recommend the best way to do this. I am a new Windows Vista because somebody gave it to me as a present. I am trying to help my daughter with her homework but their teacher sent them an AWD file.
I have no idea what it is and how to open it so we could proceed on working it. Looking forward for your quick response.
AWD file is a Microsoft Fax Document, it is also called "At Works Document". Generally it is an image. This type of file is created by Microsoft Fax Software, which retains all the formatting, content (text/image) and page structure of a fax.
How to open .awd file: You can use the following software for opening an .awd file:
Faxview Document (You can get it from the Microsoft Corporation website)
Polybytes Polyview ( You can download this software here – http://www.polybytes.com/. Go to the link, click on POLYVIEW which is present on the left side of the page and from the new page you can download it.) This will provide you only with a read-only capability. That is, you can see the file/image through this software but you cannot change it.
An AWD file (*.awd) is a file type basically associated with FaxView developed by Microsoft. The “AWD” file extension means “At Work Document” and survives as a fax graphic format (Faxviewer Document/AWD Microsoft Fax) though the “At Work” architecture idea is now distributed over different Windows applications and services particularly Microsoft Office Outlook. To open the AWD file, you need the right software like FaxView.
If you have Microsoft Windows 7, it includes Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer that you can use to open AWD files. Here’s how to enable it on Windows 7. Click “Start”, “Control Panel”, “Programs and Features” then select “Turn Windows features on or off” on the left pane. Wait while the window is loading. In “Windows Features”, scroll down and expand “Print and Document Services”.
Enable Windows Fax and Scan
Check “Windows Fax and Scan” then click “OK”. Wait until the software is installed then click “Finish”. Alternatively, you can go to Online AWD File Content Viewer to upload and view the contents of the AWD file if you don’t have a suitable program to open it.
