I am using Microsoft Word 2013. I received a .doc file from my Gmail account that is not opening up and a message appears that it has been sent from an untrusted source. I know that the file is safe and would like to open it. How can I do so? Please guide me . Thanks

How to open a .doc file from untrusted source
Hello,
If you have downloaded the file already then Windows Smart Screen may be stopping you from opening the file.
Follow the steps below to turn off SmartScreen which is a useful feature in Windows 8 but sometimes becomes a menace.
-
Move your mouse to the right hand corner (top or bottom) of the screen and slide down. Select the "Search" option from the Windows 8 Charms menu
-
Type Action Center and press the Enter/Return key
-
Select the "Settings" tab from the right hand side of the screen. This will show you the Action Center icon. Click on it.
-
In the window that pops up, click on the down arrow next to the Security tab which looks like a 'v'
-
This will expand the Security tab
-
Scroll Down and you will be able to see the "Windows SmartScreen" option. Click on Change Settings below that
-
In the window that pops up select "Don't do anything (Turn off SmartScreen)"
-
Click on OK
-
Now your file will open without any warnings

How to open a .doc file from untrusted source
You can open the doc file by unblocking because it has been blocked due to some virus. To fix this error, view properties  of doc file and click the "unblock" at end of message box.
