How to play mkv files using Windows Media Player?
Can anyone tell me how can I play videos with mkv format. I've tried playing it in WMP, but it does not work. It says that the codec is not supported.

Just for you to know, Windows media player does not support this kind of codec, however there are some available codecs in the internet which you may download and install. You may try the combined community codec pack, here's the link

Can't access the site, i guess there's something wrong with my browser, can you provide another link from hotfileor maybe filesonic?
Instead of downloading the codec, why not just download VLC Player? It plays almost all kinds of media files, all codec are supported 🙂 Here's the link www.videolan.org/vlc/. This is one of the best video players available on the net nowadays. Highly Recommended… (My choice)
Oh, thank you this really helps, It can even play flv files by the way.
WMP sucks, it does not support all kinds of codec, In VLC, almost all codecs/videos are playable and above all, it's totally free, no need to purchase the software.
Thank you so much, this is a big help. Cheers to us.
