I am a photographer and I need to make my pictures look good. I've heard about Photoshop and it could do a lot of good work to your pictures. Is this true? Can anyone explain it to me on how to use it? Thanks.

Yes,

Adobe Photoshop is a very powerful image editing software that allows you to post-process your photographs to add some very nice touch or even fully transform them. There are a lot of features that Photoshop has to offer.

For example, if you want to remove pimples from a face, you can use the Healing Brush tool.

Or if you want to change the background of a photo, you can select the image using a Lasso Tool and put it on another background, simple as that.

You can watch some video tutorials here:

First, You must have Photoshop installed on your PC. This tutorial is inefficient without it. Firstly,  You must crop your image closely to your subject. To do this, simply select your crop tool after opening your Photoshop.

Now in cropping, keep in mind that you should always follow the "rule of thirds". Imagine your image to be divided into two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical line thus dividing the picture into 9 equal parts. Therefore,  in these 4 lines (2 horizontal and 2 vertical lines) there are 4 intersecting points in which it is where you should place your subject.

Next thing to do is to adjust the levels of your image. You can locate the level option here: (Image > Adjustments > Levels) or use the shortcut (ctrl + L). Try aligning the Black pointer slider to the base of the "mountain shaped" histogram and do likewise in the white pointer slider.

And lastly duplicate your layer by selecting your selection layer then press (ctrl J). Then go to (Image > Adjustments > Channel mixer then check the box in monochrome. This will make your duplicate layer in black and white. Now, Select your duplicate layer and change the Blending options to overlay and change the opacity to your liking.

Best way to post process pictures is to edit it in a raw format. Then if possible, limit your editing, this could make the picture look bad if done wrongly. Also you should have someone to critic it first. You should focus on editing its layers and exposure. The picture will look good even only by changing those that I mention.
