I am new to this computer stuff, I just bought a windows laptop and it has windows server 2008 R2. Can someone tell me what I should know about server 2008 r2 end of life?

How To Prepare For Approaching Server 2008 r2 End of Life

When you install windows, it provides you 5 years of mainstream support. Mainstream support simply refers to the time for which Microsoft provides free and regular updates for their product, which may be security related or just other updates. After it ends, you get extension period of another 5 years. When it’s over, you should prepare to migrate it to the latest server released by Microsoft.
