I have windows XP installed and months ago I used software to shred some files, now I was wondering if it is possible to recover software shred deleted files? Any kind of help would be appreciated.

If you want to apply open source software, you can use Recuva. It is free but very much valuable for recovering deleted data.

It’s a very trustworthy utility. Have you used Ccleaner before? Recuva is from the developers of Ccleaner. Ccleaner is software used to clean your registry and your cookies. And, just like Ccleaner, Recuva is very easy to use. It is very efficient too.

You just have to make sure that the spaces occupied by your previous files have not been overwritten by any new file yet because Recuva and any other tools will find it hard to recover files in that situation.
