Hi friends,
I have a 1 GB Micro SD card. I used it in my mobile phone and also for data transfer from one computer to another computer and mobile phone. Accidentally tomorrow I attached it virus infected computer in my university Lab. I am facing a problem that my Card shows less memory space.
Actually I don’t want to format it, as it contains a sensitive data. In windows explorer when I tried to format the card, it shows only 1 GB capacity instead of 16 GB. I am searching for the way how to restore SD card capacity. Your help in this regard will be highly appreciated. I am anxiously waiting for a quick response.
How to restore sd card capacity without formatting it?
Hi Groat N,
I believe I can be able to help you solve this problem you have here. It is usually quite tricky to be able to restore an SD memory card after formatting the computer.
What you need to do to solve this is to just try and format with the FAT32 file system or if that doesn't work you can just have to look for another memory card size they are usually very easily perishable with formatting.
You may also try and return the memory card to the factory settings by going to Home -> Menu -> Settings-> SD and phone storage then Factory reset.
It will reset the phone to original settings.
I hope this solves your query.
Thanks.
How to restore sd card capacity without formatting it?
Test if the SD card works to another device.
Check for physical damage such as scratches or deny if it isn't working.
Insert the SD card in memory card reader and access it.
Go to My Computer.
From the list of drives, select the SD Card name and right click on it.
Select Format.
Click on File and select NTFS.
Select Start.
Start using it again.
Another resolution is to back up the SD card files or saved it in another location and restores the phone or device to factory settings.
