How can I save all my contacts and messages in a back-up file on my computer? My phone is Samsung Galaxy Y. Any ideas?

How to Save Contacts and Messages

Your PC must have Samsung Kies installed. Compared to Nokia, it is like the PC Suite. It is where you organized a lot of stuff from your phone to PC such as contacts, messages, pictures, etc. All you have to do is connect a data cable and the files from your phone and phone will sync.

How to Save Contacts and Messages

With Samsung Kies you can only backup contacts, pictures, music and video, but not SMS.

Try installing “Super Backup : SMS & Contacts” from the Google Play Store (its free to download). Then backup your SMS and contacts to your SD card, connect your Samsung Galaxy Y with PC in “USB storage” mode and finally transfer your backup files to your PC.
