Hello Experts,

How to setup Linksys starter disk? I lost my cd starter disk is it possible for me to download it from the internet? This is for my router and I also lost the manual that is why I can’t make any move and I don’t know where to get a step by step instruction to get this started. Can you give a solution?

Thank you.

Which Linksys router are you using? Go to this website and then select your router's model to view the manual.

If you do not have the Setup CD, go to Cisco HomeSupport website. Enter your Cisco model and hit the enter key to start the search. Click the Download tab below and then choose the hardware version.

Since you lost the set up CD you can also try to configure it manually. You may need to reset the router back to its factory default settings, all you have to do is press the reset button at the back of the router. Usually it's beside the power button and you need to use a pen or a paper clip to push it in. After resetting the router, you must hardwire your computer directly to the router. Click on start on your computer, type CMD. A black window will be open, on the blinking underscore type ip configure for you to get the ip address of the router.

Usually for Linksys router their IP Address is 192.168.1.1. Just open a browser, type the IP Address on the address bar. After hitting enter a log in box will appear asking for a log in name and password. The default username and password for Linksys routers would be admin for the username and admin for the password. Now there will be a blue screen with the Linksys logo, from there you can have option to configure your wireless and even assign an IP address for your modem.

Hope this helps you.
