Hi,

I’m a newbie in Excel 2010 and basically know so little so please have patience with me. I need to have a table sorted by both Name and Creation date. The names I have already done alphabetically, but I also need them sorted so that the low creation date comes first for those with similar names. Can you please teach me steps on this? Thank you.

Hi Ingridgonzalou,

Sorting data on excel base on date is quite easy all you have to do is to follow these easy steps.

1. First you have to do is to select the column that consists the dates. In other words highlight it.

2. When done selecting that column, all you have to do is to go to the menu tab.

3. Click on DATA, beside sort choose oldest to newest sort option.

Hope this information helps.

Hi Ingridgonzalou,

Sorting of columns in Microsoft Excel can be seen on the Data tab from the Menu. You can also use the Filter option. You only need to highlight the Row of the column Title and a filter will appear. You will see like a drop down arrow on your Column Title. You just need to click it and sort it from oldest to newest.

The best thing about using the Filter is that you could use this to return the data to the unsorted data that you have created. You just have to unclick the Filter button to remove it. You can also use the Filter in hiding some of the data you have done by uncheck the box when you drop-down the filtered column Title.

Hope this helps.
