It's a very general question. So both boot up and system performance is slow? What specs do you have? And what programs are running? Does it happen all the time?
You also might have a virus. Have done a virus scan lately? Make sure the definitions are updated.
It's Core i5-2400, 4GB DDR3 RAM, WD 2TB SATA 2, OS windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I am into programming and web development, so I run a lot of programs/apps at the same time. Overall speed of the machine is great. I'm specifically worried about the boot up, its taking longer than my old PC and both run about the same amount of programs. I just did a scan and it did not find anything odd.
That's a pretty good setup, sandy bridge CPU's are fast. Anyhow, have you tried checking your startup?
1. Click Start.
2. Type in "msconfig."
3. Go to the STARTUP tab.
4. Uncheck any programs which you do not need to run when your machine starts up. You can also simply uncheck any unknown programs, or programs which you are unfamiliar with.
5. Click Apply, then OK.
6. Restart your PC.
See if there are any improvements when you boot up.
Hi Tilaps,
I tried your suggestion and did remove some programs from the startup entries, seems to improve a bit. I also did find some interesting programs which are not supposed to be there as well. How they got there I have no idea. I guess I need a better AV/AS for my rig.

You may want to try and do a scan using other antivirus software and/or do a check on your hard drive for bad clusters or it just might be fragmented.
Recommended Antivirus:
1. Avira.
2. Ad ware Antivirus.
3. Malware bytes Anti-Malware.
To do a check on your HDD:
1. Open My Computer.
2. Right click the HDD in question.
3. Properties.
4. Tools.
5. Check for errors, then do a defragment.
See how it goes.
