How to start Scan Disk
Â
Hi Miguel Montano,
Well, scanning your disk with a NTFS type of drive has the same procedures with scanning your disk with a FAT type of drive. It is also pretty simple and easy to scan the disk too. Here I will show you how to do it. Remember this method applies to both types of drive. Here it is:
1.      Open My Computer either through start button or through double-clicking its icon.
2.      Once open, right-click on the drive letter you want to check disk.
3.      In the pop-up menu, click properties.
4.      Navigate to tools tab, and Click Check now.
5.      Check the boxes of the options you want, then click start.

Running the Windows scandisk in Windows 7, I think, is the same or has the same procedure when it is done in Windows XP. To check your hard drive for errors using scandisk, follow these:
- First, launch Windows Explorer either from the desktop or from the Start menu. You can also access and view the drives by double-clicking on Computer or My Computer.
- Right-click on the drive you wish to check then select Properties.
- On the window that pops up, select Tools tab.
- Under Error checking, click on Check Now button.
- Check Automatically fix file system errors then click on Start to begin the scan.
Wait for it to finish then close the window.
