Hi,

I use Internet Download Manager 6.05, with its Firefox plugin, and I want to know how to disable it for certain sites, so that I can use the Firefox download manager.

I've tried to configure the plugin but didn't succeed.

Please help.

Thanks

It is not possible to customize internet download manager for certain web sites. Either you have to enable it for all the websites or you have to disable it for all the websites. So you have to use either internet download manager for all sites or the default Firefox download manager.

Hello Abdelaaty,

You can disable internet download manager in your Firefox by accessing the plugins and disabling it. Use the following procedure:

  • In your Firefox, click on Tools and then add-ons.
  • Next look for the internet download manager plug-in in the window that will come up.
  • Click on Disable to disable internet download manager in your browser.

You can also configure internet download manager itself so that it does not capture downloads instantly when you are using Firefox.

  • Just the internet download manager and then click on downloads.
  • In the general tab, uncheck Firefox from the list of browsers that have been integrated with IDM.
  • Save the changes.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Lee Hung

If you have IDM or Internet Download Manager but you don’t want to use it on Firefox and instead want to use the built-in download manager of the browser, just disable the Internet Download Manager add-on on the browser itself. To do this, in Mozilla Firefox, open the menu located on the upper right-most corner of the screen then select “Add-ons.”

Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + Shift + A or type the following in the address bar then hit Enter:

about:addons

Next, click “Extensions” on the left pane then under “Manage Your Extensions” on the right, verify that the Internet Download Manager extension is listed under “Enabled.” If you see it there, click the slider button next to its name to disable it or click the three-dot button then select “Remove” to completely remove the extension from the browser.

Once this is removed, you will now be able to use the browser’s built-in download manager.
