To synchronize two laptop through usb, I think it's impossible. But I have two solutions for connecting two or more laptops. If your two laptops have wifi (normally), you can create an adhoc network by going to Connection setting and configure a new adhoc connection. The same with Ethernet cables, USB-USB cables are also available in different types. That’s why you need to be specific when buying a USB-USB cable to avoid purchasing the wrong cable.
