To install a new and higher version of IE first, uninstall the existing version.
Click on the start menu.
Open the control panel.
Choose program manager and hit on the Uninstall a program link. You will get the list of the installed programs on your screen.
At the right side of the window choose the View Installed Updates link
Search for internet explorer.
And click on it, at the top tab you will find an option to uninstall the program, click it.
Confirm your decision by clicking Yes.
