There are a certain number of programs that I have made desktop shortcuts for. The problem is that whenever I try to open a program from the desktop shortcut, it throws the stub received bad data windows 7 error. I am, however, able to open the program on a second attempt. How do I handle this?
How To Remove The Stub Received Bad Data Windows 7
This error is quite common among both Windows 7 and Windows 10 users. The error is also accompanied by an error message that indicates what is wrong. In this particular case, there are two things that you can do.
First, fire up Command Prompt (run it as administrator). Then type “sfc/scannow” and hit Enter. Check the results. They will contain what is wrong. If this does not yield anything, go for option two.
The second option is as follows. Once again open the Command Prompt as administrator. Now type the command “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth” and press Enter. Now type “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” and hit Enter again. This might take around 15-20 minutes to complete. The results will lead you to the problem.
