For experiment purpose I want to establish a network between two PCs and transfer Data over Telephone Cable. For this Experiment I have a two ADSL Modems, Telephone Cable and Two PCs. What settings I have to configure in ADSL for Establish this Network and what is the Maximum range of this network.
How to transfer Data over Telephone Cable?
Yes, you can share your files or create network with telephone cable. To do this follow some steps as mention below:
Step 1: Make sure that both PCs are in the same Homegroup or Workgroup.
You can change your workgroup by right click on My Computer & Click On Properties. Go to Computer Name Tab. Now change Workgroup Name.
Step 2: Now go to Control Panel of 1st PC> go to Network and Sharing Center > Right Click on Local Area Network> Click on Properties> Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4)> Click Properties
Now Select Use Following IP. Now configure as below:
IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Other leave blank.
Step 3: Now goto TCP/IPv4 properties of 2nd PC & change as following:
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Other leave blank.
Step 4: Restart your both PCs. Now to share a file right clicks on the file & goto Sharing & Security. Select Share & Click OK. You can also Map a drive. You will find the share Items on My Network Places of other PC.
Step 5: If you want to share Internet Connection from the PC (which have Internet already) from other PC then right click on Local Area Network & click properties. Select Sharing Tab. Click on Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection. It may require restart the computer.
Hope this will make your experiment successful.
N.B: It is best for 75 Meters but it may works up to 100 Meters.
