How to use Remote Computer Access?

Windows XP offers this feature to invite a friend or someone to your computer over the internet. You can decide whether you want them to just view your screen or take full control of it. Here’s how to send a request for remote assistance:

• Click the Start button and Select Help and Support.
• To ask for assistance section click the “Invite a friend to connect to your computer” with Remote Assistance under.
• Select whether you want to invite someone to help you or offer help remotely.
• If you select invite someone to help you, enter the e-mail address of that person and then click Continue.
• A dialog box will appear. This is the email invitation. Enter your name with an optional message about your problem and Click Continue.
• You can set expiration time for your request or just leave the default.
• You have an option to set a password and then click send invitation.

Your friend must know the password. An E-mail will be sent to your friend. If you receive an alert that your e-mail program might find it suspicious, just click the Yes button.

Your friend will receive emails with the Remote Assistance request attached to it, A confirmation will appear on your computer screen if your friend accepts the invitation:

Click Yes button and your friend can view your screen.

You can send a file and chat with your friend using microphone or end the remote session. To take control of your screen your friend can now send a request. A confirmation alert box will appear on your screen.

If you confirm and select the Yes button, your friend can now have the access to control your computer screen. There might be a problem accessing your computer due to firewall because it may be blocking the incoming connection.
