There are three steps to using a Sharepoint foundation filter:

 

•       Adding the filter to your Web page

 

•       Configuration of the filter settings

 

•       (Optionally) Connecting the filter to other Web Parts on the page

 

Adding a filter Web Part to a page

 

When you will start using a filter that will request user input.

 

Make the place for the Web Part on the page & provide a name for the filter in the text box or menu as the description given on the page.

 

Configuration of the filter settings

 

You can organize the settings of the filter by the Web Part tool pane. Each tool pane has special options depending on the type of filter.

 

Connecting  the filter to other Web Parts on the page

 

You need to connect the filter Web Part that you are going use to another Web Part on the page. You can connect two types of filters Web Parts.

 

They are the visible one & another invisible to the user. After adding a filter, you can connect to another Web Part on the page.
