HP deskjet F2290 installing issue

Hi everyone,

I recently replaced Vista with Windows 7 pro and since I can no longer install the HP software to use all functions of my HP deskjet F2290.

The cd that came with the printer does not work on Win 7. So I went to the HP site to download a newer version ,but it still cannot be installed.

Yet my computer detects the printer and whether wireless, the network (via RJ45) or directly with the USB.

What can I do, to use my printer?

Thanks.

Dear Matthewbaum,

First we must know that either your installed 32-bit operating system or 64-bit operating system. Because, now a days 32-bit and 64-bit drivers are available separately.

Windows detecting the printer shows that there are no fault in printer and you did not have proper driver for your printer. You should go to this link

On this link you can download 32-bit driver for your printer.

otherwise go to this link and site automatically detect your printer and download proper device driver for your printer.

Cheers

Benth

Good day,

Try manually installing the printer. First, disconnect the printer by disconnecting the USB cable from the printer. Then clear any blinking lights in the printer by turning it off and then immediately turn it back on. Click on Start then choose Devices and Printer, right click on the product icon and in your case the printer then click remove device. If multiple product icon exist then you need to remove them all. Restart your computer. Once your computer restarted, click Start then choose again Devices and Printers. Click on Add a Printer, then click on Add a local printer, Click on Use an Existing Port, select LPT1:(printer Port) under use an existing port then click Next. Wait for the updates to complete after clickingon Windows Update. In the window Install the Printer driver window, under Manufacturer click HP. Under Printers, search for your driver. Once done, plug the USB cable back into the printer. A window Installing Device Driver Software will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen, once that window disappears click Cancel button on the Add printer window. After doing the steps, the printer should be in the Device and Printers window.

Hope it helps.
