Hallo! I am really having a serious issue with my iPad. It has been working well all along but lately I am not able to power it off even using the power button. I don't even get the power off slide. Is there another way to poweroff iPad to save me from charging mine after very short durations? Thanks for your help.

Dear James Craig,
There is no alternative of power button here in your iPad. You could wait for when the battery will charge off or die. You should go to apple stores around you if you still have the warranty period with free of cost or replace it there with limited fees.
Thanks, Murphy

Hello James,
Press home and refresh buttons for a few seconds to turn your iPad off (You will need to press these buttons again to turn it on). You may also download dimmer and battery saving applications to save some much needed battery as an alternative to shutting it down. These can be found via the search tab on iTunes.
Thank you,
Luz M Terry

In cases when the power button of the iPhone or the iPad is not working, one way you can turn off the device is to enable the “assistive touch” feature. To activate the “assistive touch” feature, on your iPhone or iPad, go to “Settings,” “General,” and then “Accessibility.” Here, you will see “Assistive Touch.” Tap this option to turn it ON.
Once this feature is enabled, you will see a grey square with white circle button. You can then place this icon on your iPhone or iPad screen if you wish. You can use this button to turn off your device if the power button is not working or damaged.
To turn off your iPhone or iPad using this button, on your device, tap on the “Assistive Touch” icon then select “Device.” When you see the “Lock Screen” icon, press and hold it until the power off screen appears. Slide it to switch off your device. Now, the problem comes when you need to turn on your iPhone or iPad and the power button is broken.
In this case, plug your device to an external device like a computer or a laptop using the USB cable to switch it ON.
