Hi,
I have a video file at home that I want to view.
When I open it with VLC, there is an error that said, Could not launch ‘VLC media player’.
I pasted the screen shot below.
Could not launch ‘VLC media player’
Failed to execute child process “VLC” (No such file or directory)
I managed to play some videos days ago, and suddenly now I cannot run VLC. I checked my computer for some viruses that might infect my computer.
After a full scan, there was no virus found. I reinstalled VLC and same error persisted when opening a file.
Please help me figure out for some solution to my problem.
Thank you.
VLC Player could not launch when loading a file
Hi Gregorywelts!
The problem that causing you that error is when you apt-get removed and apt-get installed VLC, the apt-get utility wouldn't re-download VLC. Find the path directory of VLC, or just right click on the VLCicon and properties then find target.
1. Go to the menu bar and left click to tools then click the folder option.
2. Go to view tab and search for the hidden files and folders.
3. Then click the show hidden files and folders and uncheck hide extension for known files and hide protected operating system files.
4. Then uninstall the program VLC, after that if there are some files left delete all of it and download a new VLCon the net then reinstall the program.
5. Don’t forget to restore the folder options default to hide the hidden files again.
6. Try installing malware bytes it removes spyware, Trojans and other dangerous software that can remove file and damage your computer.

VLC Player could not launch when loading a file
Hi,
Your software might have been corrupted or have some files missing. You need to check your system registry for any files that might have been deleted or missing, you also need to check the system files in C:/Program files/vlc.exe. The original system file is usually corrupted and appears as a music file.
You need to delete it and download another instance of the software and install it. Restart your system and try opening the player reconfigure the codecs and play any audio file. You also need to ensure that your computer does not have any antivirus software or firewall that would deter the installation and running of the player.
This should work,
Thanks.
