Hello
I have a problem with my System Restore. When I try to run it, it says it has encountered a problem and has to close. I need to restore my system to the last good configuration but I can’t get past the error and I don’t understand where it is coming from. Is my system crashing? What should to do?
Need your help. Thanks in advance.
I cannot run system restore because of an error
Hello April Howard,
The common cause for the error you describe is corrupted Windows system files. Â You could try using your installation CD to repair your Windows installation or, better yet, just use System File Checker.
To run System File Checker (abbreviated as "SFC"), just open a Command Prompt as Administrator. Â How?
Click the "start" button and navigate to Accessories.  Highlight "Command Prompt", right-click and select "Run as…".  Select the option "The following user:" and enter the username and password of the administrator account (depends on what you set during installation of Windows).
Once you have the Command Prompt, enter the following command:
sfc /scannow
Sit back and wait for SFC to check all your Windows system files and automatically replace any missing or corrupted system file.
Hope this helps!
