I’m currently using Windows 7, I used Windows XP before and at that time I had encrypted photos and data in a folder. Why is it that I cannot access the metaphors and data saved in that folder. I can see the photos and data but I cannot open, copy or modify them.
I can’t open, copy, or modify photos and data encrypted in WinXP.
Hello there,
Since you were using windows XP before and now windows 7, the problem lies in the folder ownership. Even though your username and password are the same as the one you had in XP, some of your user account information has changed when you switched to windows 7.
Right click on the folder where the encrypted files are and then select Properties. Click on the following: Security > Advanced > Owner. Edit it. Also, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and object check box to gain ownership of the files and subfolders inside the folder. Hope this helps.

Hello Kevin,
You were using windows XP but right now you are using windows 7, right? The problem here could be that the encryptions that you used for your document while in windows XP are not agreeing with windows 7 due to some reason like compatibility issues, or may be the software that windows 7 has now as the default for accessing the metaphors and the data is not recognized.
So you may need to check which program you were using to access the metaphors and data saved in the folder while you were using windows XP so that you install it is not on windows 7 and make it the default program.
