This is new to me! Yesterday, suddenly, I failed to open any documents for viewing, editing or printing. I'm using Office Starter 2010 which was preloaded on my laptop. When I give double click on the document, it opens for about 1 or 2 seconds; then it closes again. Please, someone HELP!!

Hi Phoenix, MS word don't support files saved on MS Word 1.x,2.x,4.x,5.x,6.0 and WORD 95. That's the reason why it closes. After each old version Microsoft brings new features and enhanced MS word application . You are blocked by registry settings. There are two options to do:
A. Move the file to Trusted Location
1. Open window registry
2. Navigate to the key " HKEY_CURRENT_USERsoftwareMicrosoftoffice11.0common"
3. On the edit Menu click New->key
4 Type OICEExemptions as name
5. Again, click edit->New->String Value. Type name and press Enter
6.Right click the string name and click Modify
7. In the Value box type the directory of the file
8. Exit Registry editor
B. change Registry- if you want this, you must back up the registry settings
1.Run MS word click the file tab
2. Under help Option click option click Trust center
3. Click Trust Center settings
4. In the Trust center settings click File block settings
5. uncheck the blocked settings
6. click OK
