On my Windows 7 I use AVG 2011 free of charge. One day it could not be updated and then I got an error message showing General Error. I tried to reload it many times but it didn’t work. The system restore was an option for me so I wanted to try that as I had already installed Net Fusion but still it did not fix the problem. Later on I thought to uninstall AVG Free but I was not able to do that, so I searched the web for an uninstall tool and found the AVG 11 elimination tool. I wasn’t sure if it worked but I was out of options and tried it. Then I got the following message:
0xC0070643
General Internal Error
Uninstallation failed
0C0076591
I think that my computer has a lot of AVG files which are not used and aren’t working. I hope this can be solved.I have already changed my anti-Virus software, even if I have used AVG for a decade with satisfactory performance until now.
I get uninstall error when uninstalling AVG 11
Hello Martha,
I have read your question and I think I have a solution for your problem. I hope this is a big help.
First: Try downloading the AVG uninstall/clean up utility and run it. To run this software, you must run it through administrator. To do this, right click the file then select "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR."
Second: You should wait until the “AVG Remover” had finished completely. Then simply restart your PC.
Third: After restart, kindly eliminate these folders on the system:
FOR Windows 7 (since you are using this operating system)
C:Program FilesAVG or C:Program files(x86)AVG
C:ProgramDataAVG8
C:ProgramDataAVG9
C:ProgramDataAVG10
C:Users<user>AppDataRoamingAVG8
C:Users<user>AppDataRoamingAVG9
C:Users<user>AppDataRoamingAVG10
Lastly: Restart PC for the second time then it's done.
I hope I am in the right track of understanding your concern and gave you a hand to fix the problem. I hope this information is of good help.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Mali
