Hi experts,

I have cut off all my inner hard disk drives, and I just connect a Hard Disk is the USB drive and in here Ubuntu is installed.

But I got this error in there. I need a solution. Please help me.

Thanks.

Bootloader install failed

Sorry, an error occurred and it was not possible

to install the bootloader at the specified location.

How would you like to proceed?

Choose a different device to install the bootloader on:

/dev/sda1

Continue without a bootloader.

Cancel the installation.

I think you are trying to install Ubuntu on an external hard drive. I’m not sure if Ubuntu supports this kind of configuration but thinking that CPUs allow booting on any USB drives then I think it’s possible. Check first if your external hard disk has plenty of available space for the installation of the operating system. You should also check if the hard drive is partitioned properly and is the right file system for Ubuntu.

Since you are in the middle of the installation when the error happened, try restarting your machine then try it again. See if the error will appear again after the reboot. If you are still stuck on that part of the procedure, format the hard drive again using the appropriate file system for Ubuntu then try installing Ubuntu again. See if this will be successful.
