Hi Mark Johnson,

PCI network controller is very much needed to have Internet access. This hardware needs driver to make it work. The hard drive might have been installed but the software is not. First identify if the driver is installed.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Click to Classic View>System>Hardware Tab> Device Manager. Look for this hardware in the list of hardware installed.

Click on the Network Adapter and expand it by clicking on the plus sign in the left side.

This will show what network adapter is installed. The status would normally say enabled if it’s functioning but usually has yellow triangle and or red X mark if not.

Right Click on it, update driver. Insert the disk and follow the instructions. This process will update the driver of this PCI card and it will function as normal.

Hope this help.

Most manufacturers have their product support page. You can download missing drivers from your Dell PC to their website. Just click on the link below and then select your operating system, select from the category of the driver you were looking for or select all to view all the drivers. And then click Download file to download the driver to your PC.
