Hi, I have DVD re drive that bought nearly year ago. I work perfectly until now and now the tray doesn’t come out when I press the button. Then I have to use a small stick to open it by force. But this happens only when the tray is empty. When the CD is loaded it works perfectly. Why this is and what can I do for this. Thanks

I have a problem with my dvd rw drive, need help.
Hello Kent Woods,
Have you tried reseating (removing and plugging it back) the drive?
Try checking the registry and see if there is an upper or lower filter file. Follow these steps:
1. Click Start then Run. Type regedit
2. Look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, click the + sign.
3. Click SYSTEM, click the + sign.
4. Click CurrentControlSet, click the + sign.
5. Click Control, click the + sign.
6. Click Class, click the + sign.
7. Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
On the left-hand side, look for UpperFilters, LowerFilters, UpperFilters.bak and LowerFilters.bak.
Delete these files, reboot computer. Then check the functionality of your drive again.
If it still doesn't work, try going to Boot Menu or Safe Mode. Hit a function key(usually F12 or F8)Â that will go to Boot Menu. Open your drive. If it works, then there's a big chance that it's a SW issue.

You desktop computer's DVD tray does not comes out when you press the button is a result of an unbalanced fitting at the drive's place. When you load the CD inside it, because of the minor weight the CD exerts, the tray eventually comes out perfectly. Take your drive out and put it again in the slot, it will work normally.
