0x80040216 error is an issue name that contains the detail of the malfunction, including why it occurred, which system computer application or component malfunctioned to cause this issue, along with other information. 0x80040216 error occurs when Windows Update continuously fails to search for updates and can’t install them. The other things responsible for this error are Windows Registry, Windows Filesystem, Virus, Corrupted files, Adware, Misconfiguration, Internet access, and Windows update service. It is an unexpected error that occurs during the execution of the task.

The steps to fix the 0x80040216 error are as follows:

• Import the solution from a newer version to older versions.
• Extract the files in the solution.zip
• Open solution.xml.
• Modify ‘version’ and ’SolutionPackageVersion’ to the target CRM tenant.
• Rezip the files.
• Import the files now.
