I’m new to Linux. Which distribution should I choose?
I want to make the switch from Windows to Linux. I've tried to research the different distributions but there are so many. Which distribution is suitable for someone who is new to Linux?

Hi Lingua,Â
I believe I can help you in solving your query since it has been solved before. If you are using your PC at home and are willing to change, I would advise Ubuntu, this is because it is easy to use, it is popular on desktops and servers, it also helps you as a user to keep up with the latest software versions by releasing software updates on a regular basis.
Ubuntu has a long term support also known as LTS. This uses package versions that are considered more stable than cutting-edge making it more suitable to use on a production server or system.
It is usually a very nice Operating System.
I hope this solves your query.
Thanks.
Hi there,
I am also a little new to open source operating systems, but I know less now. I started with Linux Mint 9 also known as Isadora. I started with this because it is almost like windows operating systems and you can get both tests of windows and Linux at the same time.
Linux Ubuntu and Mint are almost similar and all the Debian files are executable in mint too. I got good results from this and would like to suggest you the same.
Best regards,
Riley Weaver.
