Hi all,
I’m trying to install MPIO DSM V3.5 from NetApp on Windows 2008 R2 SP1, though I already have old version of this. I’ve noticed that if I don’t install KB2522766 and KB2528357, an error message appears: see the image I have attached. Does this have to do with my older version of NetApp MPIO DSM?
Error:
The following hotfixes are not available on the system:1.Q2522766-mpio.sys(Required:6.1.7601.17619/Installed:6.1.7601.17514) 2.Q2528357-storport.sys(Required:6.1.7601.21720/Installed:6.1.7601.17577) please install the hotfixes listed and retry the installation.
Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You will get the following “error” after you deploy MPIO DSM V3.5 from NetApp at a fully patched Windows 2008 R2 SP1 system and if you have not installed KB2522766 and KB2528357:
“KB2522766”
The MPIO fails more than all paths improperly when a passing single collapse occurs in Windows Server 2008 or in Windows Server 2008 R2
“KB2528357”
Nonpaged pool leak when you change some storage controllers in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
After completed installing KB2522766 you have to reboot.
Same as KB2522766 requires a reboot.
After completed requires reboot, you can install MPIO DSM 3.5:
If you have an older version of NetApp MPIO DSM installed, then it will be detected and upgrade automatically. Then you have to install the Hyper-V Guest utilities, which is the new features and mentioned above in the feature list.
Then you have to completed third reboot, and then you can use proceed with SAN configuration.

Hallo Tammy,
There are some third party patches that you will need to deploy before you can proceed with the installation, and you can find them here: https://ramazancan.wordpress.com/2011/11/08/netapp-new-windows-mpio-v3-5-available/
Once you have done a third party reboot, you can go ahead and do the SAN configuration. Some other things that you will need to do are the following:
-
Ensure that there are not compatibility issues with the operating system, for that may be one possible cause of the error that you are getting.
-
Also, I will recommend that you get the most recent version of the application to use for installation.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Carl

5. After download, install it and restart the system.
6. If there is a newer version available on their site, then you must download that one and remove the previous version from your computer and install the new one as it automatically includes the hot fixes as well.
