Hello guys!
Maybe you can help me out. I have Windows Live Messenger 2011 installed on a Windows XP computer. Every time I sign in using my Windows Live ID and password, it keeps on disconnecting every 5 minutes. Any ideas?

I have also experienced the same issue before with Windows Live Messenger. What anti-virus software are you using? what type of Internet connection do you have?

Thank you for replying Paul. I am using a wireless 3G connection and my Anti-virus software is Zone Alarm Internet Security 2011. I also have Yahoo! Messenger and Skype running on the background, can that cause an issue with Windows Live Messenger?

Let me also add that I am not experiencing disconnection issues with Yahoo! Messenger and Skype, only in Windows Live Messenger 2011.
Few of my friends are also experiencing the same issue, 2 of them are also using ZoneAlarm Internet Security.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, your 3G connection is the only culprit left. Some 3G connection doesn’t really do well when running Messenger program, I suggest that you try using a wired Internet connection and see if the issue will be resolved. Hope this helps.

Oops! I posted an incomplete response. Here's the correct one:
My best bet goes to the Zone Alarm Internet Security. Zone Alarm has feature called IM Security that is known to cause conflict with Windows Live Messenger only and not with other messenger programs. I suggest that you disable the IM Security feature or temporarily disable the entire Zone Alarm program just to see if this is the one causing the problem.
For steps on how to disable Zone Alarm features, try to contact the manufacturer. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, your 3G connection is the only culprit left. Some 3G connection doesn’t really do well when running Messenger program, I suggest that you try using a wired Internet connection and see if the issue will be resolved.

Guess what?
Disabling Zone Alarm did the trick! So far I’m not being disconnected from the service. I’ll try to observe this for a while, and if it permanently resolved the issue, I guess I’ll just use a different Security program for my PC. Thanks for helping!
