I need to put custom names for my windows XP boot menu
Changing OS names at booting up is a very interesting stuff .
What you have to do is find where your primary OS is, in default it will be C drive
Go to view-> change folder and options and in one tab select show hidden files and then also untick the row which shows Hide protected operating system files.
it will says a warning click ok to continue.
then you will see many hidden files appeared in you c drive.
open the file boot.ini
PLEASE NOTE :- boot.ini and all is very important system files which if you mess up your PC wont boot up . Use it at your own risk , don’t blame me for corrupting your PC.
then edit you can see some codes in the middle you can see your what appears when you boot up in double quotes like “Windows XP professional” Just remove that without removing the quotes ok then inside the quotes put what name (your customized name) in it and save it.
Double check if you did my steps correctly and now reboot you PC and see the magic .
And here your problem is solved.
