1. Download the new font file you want to install.
2. Then copy it and go to your control panel.
3. Open the font folder and paste your font file on the window.
4. Then it will ask to install your font and click ok.

You can locate your font file from your font directory.
1. Go to control panel and open the Font folder.
2. Then go to file menu and select install new font.
3. Browse the directory of the font you hope to install.
4. Highlight it and click ok.

Fonts help to read file character properly. If proper fonts aren't installed, many characters can't be seen. There are many websites from where you can download fonts. But I suggest you to download fonts from Microsoft. You should just download them and double-click on them to open. When those are opened, then click install. Thus you can install any language fonts quite easily.

You can easily install your downloaded font file to your Windows XP operating system.
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Choose Fonts.
You can see this dialog box.
Next click file tab and choose install new font select the drive. Then choose folders and double click folder that consists of your fonts. Then you can see the list of fonts, you should select fonts what you want to install your system. Then click ok.

To add a new font to your Windows XP, click Start > Control Panel > Fonts. It will open a list of all the available fonts on your machine. Click File and then Install New Font. And then select the drive you want to add the new font. Double-click the folder where your fonts are. Under the List of Fonts, click the font you want and then click OK.
