The best solution to speeding up your computer’s performance would be to buy higher memory (DDR1, DDR2, DDR3) than what is already installed in your computer. Another trick to temporarily increase your computer’s performance would be to close any programs that are running in the background of your computer that take up a large amount of memory.
To do this you will have to open your Task Manager which can be done by pressing the Alt+Ctrl+Delete keys at the same time. Another way of accessing your task manager would be to right click on your task bar and click on Task Manager.
When you have accessed your Task Manager, navigate to the Processes tab, which can be found near the top of the application. Here is a Image of what you should be looking at.
With the Task Manager you can view all programs that are currently running on your computer.
To increase your computer’s performance simply look for which program consumes the most memory, right click on the name, and then click on end process. This process ends the program and the memory of the program that was ended will be available for use can which in turns slightly increases your computer’s performance for the time being. One thing to take note of is that you should never end programs that are listed as “SYSTEM” as they are needed for your computer to run, ending programs that are listed as “SYSTEM” may cause your computer to crash. When you have accessed your Task Manager, navigate to the Processes tab which can be found near the top of the application. Here is a Image of what you should be looking at.

You can check out your hard disk status by following these steps:

Click Start Menu
-
Select Run
-
Type cmd and press enter
If you want to check D drive then
-
Type D: and press enter;
-
Type chkdsk
-
And check the result on the screen as:

If there is no bad sector then there will be a message as: 0 KB in bad sectors.
That shows you don’t have bad sectors in your hard disk. Now you have to perform some steps. Perform these tasks once a month regularly and you will check the speed of hard disk is really good.

Right click on your drive.

Select “tools” from tab.

Run “Defragment Now” your drives.

Run “check Now”.

Go to your folder of item files and delete all files regularly.
For example if you have windows with user name ABC then the path of the temp folder will be like:
