When I  search on Google and try to switch back to the previous page using the back button instead of going back to previous page it goes back to the first page.

This is really annoying and time consuming.

Please help me.

  • Although I haven't been able to replicate your problem on my IE9. This appears to be quite a common problem which somehow points to Google Search being the source of the problem.
  • See this link
  • Since this doesn't appear to be a bug in IE9, I'm afraid you can only settle for a workaround. The workaround for this problem according to user reports is to click the Back button 2 times very quickly. Another workaround is to open the links in a New Tab. That way, you can just switch between tabs instead of pressing the Back button.
  • If you find that you just cannot avoid Google search, then I suggest switching to another browser such as Firefox or Opera. Both have the same feel as IE9 and both do not exhibit this problem.
  • However, if you want to keep using IE9 for some reason, then I suggest using other search engines such as Bing or Yahoo!.

Hope this helps!

  • First  delete your temporary internet files and cookies. After deleting all cookies, close your internet explorer then open it again.
  • If deleting temporary internet files and deleting cookies does not solve the issue, try to scan your computer with anti-virus scanner to free it from a virus infection.
  • If neither works, re-install Internet explorer using the latest version of Microsoft Internet explorer from Microsoft's website.
  • Instead of Internet Explorer, use Fire fox or Google Chrome to browse the internet. These are one of the alternatives solutions for browsing the internet. You may use other browsers that are not mentioned here. All of them are reliable although they have different features.
