I’m having a problem of removing the single retaining clip from the heatsink from my computer which runs through the centre of the unit. I already tried to remove it using a screwdriver while pushing and pulling it down but still the single clip couldn’t release. And my last choice is I want to remove my motherboard but if I do that, I'll probably have to but a new heatsink unit complete with a retaining clip.
I need your advices and suggestions about this. So that I could install my Athlon XP 2400 just to upgrade an older motherboard with a Socket of 462.

Remove the motherboard will not be the best thing do, because that will mean that you dismantle everything that you have on the motherboard including the processor and the fan. Disassembling may not be the problem, but the problem may come when you need to assemble the parts back together. The cables on the motherboard are so many and therefore you may not be able to figure out which one goes where. What I will suggest that you do is try removing the clip again using the screw driver, and if that seems not to help, you will need to look for a computer technician and let him help you get that clip from the motherboard.
