Immobilize my Windows Sidebar in Vista

Hello,

My name is Brian and I would like to know, if there is a way for me to remove or immobilize Windows Sidebar.

Well, I know Sidebar is not doing anything on my program or whatever. It does not hinder me from doing something else. However, I do have a little screen as my laptop is just approximately 12 inches. So imagine that I really have a little screen and it is taking much of my desktop.

I cannot seem to see the option to disable it. I would really be glad if someone can direct me with the step by step procedure in doing it in Vista, if it is possible to immobilize it.

Thank you in advance.

  • Sidebar keep information and tool available for you any time with easy approach.
  • Because of the space Sidebar requires, this option works best if you're using a large or wide-screen monitor or multiple monitors.

Although if you does not want sidebar to cover your laptop screen. You can do following steps to make it disable.

  1. Open Windows Sidebar properties by clicking the Start button.
  2. Click then Control Panel,
  3. Click Appearance and Personalization,
  4. Then clicking Windows Sidebar Properties.
  5. Select the Sidebar is always on top of other windows check box.
  6. Click OK.

Hope this solution will serve the purpose.

Good luck.

Hi Brain,

  • If you want to remove the side bar from your Window then you just need to disable it and it will not come next time. To disable the side bar you need to know is it a Windows side bar or another side bar and then you can remove it from there. Another method is to use the click and drag method and most of the side bars support this method. You need to find a thing like this and once you have it; then you can right click on it and then select close or exit as it requires. Also you can drag it to some other way you like.
  • If the side bar is coming on start up then you can do the following to make it unavailable.
  • Go to START and then to RUN and here type msconfig then go to start up and disable or uncheck the sidebar option. It will not come next time you start your Windows.
