Hello Everyone,
I have a simple question for all of you. Please anyone tell me what are the networks which are Non Routable with the help of examples. Whether there are any security issues involved in the Non Routable networks? Or if there is any risk of security in the Non Routable networks ; then how can we resolve these risks? Whether there are any tools we can use to avoid the risk?Â
Please give example with the answers.
Thanks
Information about Non Routable networks
A non-routable network is a network that is not visible in the Internet. These are private networks which we use internally in our home and company Intranets. These are reserved IP address scopes that no router routes to the Internet. They provide a little extra security layer to the internal side of a network.
Examples:
-
10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255
-
172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255
-
192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255
Security risks? Your internal IP ranges. Secure access to these from the outside world via firewall. Just control what can access your network to mitigate those risks and manage network access not just Windows.
Information about Non Routable networks
Hi,
Non-routable network is a network than contains the private IP addresses.
That means the IP addresses that we use in houses and companies. In most of the local area networks we use the private IP system.
There are two ranges of IP address in private networks IPv4 and IPv6.
In IPv4 they have three IP ranges with the 16, 20 and 24 bit blocks.
In IPv6 have 40 bit blocks to represent the IP range.
This private security networks improve the security of the network. So it reduces the risk that we have in the network.
You can find more details about the security from this article.
Thank you.
