Infrastructure master and global catalog(AD)

Hi ,

Is it possible to keep Infrastructure master and global catalog in one domain controller or in multiple domain forest?

If not please explain .Its important for me to know.

Infrastructure master and global catalog(AD)

Dear Silver,

The job of an Infrastructure Master is to compare objects in the local domain with other domains of the same forest. Whereas a Global catalog server has a partial copy of every object present in the forest hence if the server in which Infrastructure Master is present is also a Global Catalog there will be no difference.

If in a Domain every domain controller is a global catalog server the Infrastructure Master is not required as the global catalog server already has the information about the objects of other domains. Hence a Infrastructure Master can be there in a global catalog server in a single domain forest or multiple domain forest.
