Hello,

I have turned on my MAC today and this message box appeared on my desktop and after I clicked the OK button nothing happened. It appeared again when I turned on my MAC this evening. It comes to be a little bit annoying, mostly because I don’t know what it means. Can anyone tell me how to fix this and from where I get this ?

Thanks !

Insecure Startup Items folder detected.

Items in the Startup Items folder (“/Library/ Startupltems/”) have not been started because the folder does not have the proper security settings.

That error will only appear if the items added in the startup have incorrect security settings or permissions. This problem happens usually on Mac computers running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and higher and the error message appears right after the user logs in. The error shows up because of incorrect permissions in the folder “/Library/StartupItems” or maybe one of the items in the folder.

To fix this error and prevent it from appearing in the future, in “/Applications/Utilities”, open Disk Utility. Next, choose the name of the volume or the drive where your operating system is installed or Mac OS X is installed. The default name is Macintosh HD. Click Repair Disk Permissions and wait for it to finish. Once the repair has been completed, restart your computer and see if the error appears again.

Aside from that error, you may also receive the error in the image below. See image.

In case you encounter this error instead, open the “/Library/StartupItems” folder and find the file that appears in the error message. Once found, drag the file to the Trash. After that restart your computer and see if the problem is fixed. If the item or file you trashed is part of an application, this might prevent the program from functioning correctly. Simply reinstall the application and restart your computer.
