Install Shield Error has occurred 1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance

Hi,

I am posting first issue, hope you will help me.

I bought a new personal computer and whenever I plug in a USB an error generates; I examine that this could be a motherboard problem i.e. Hardware issue. But along with that

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-D3H

BIOS Version: F15 (Up-to-date)

OS: Windows 7 Professional, 64 Bit.

RAM: Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz Ballistics Sport Memory Kit CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V

Processor: Intel 3rd Generation Core i5-3570K

My device manager shows that USBs is indeed and not working properly:

InstallShield

1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance,

Return code: -214722164

Please help me out of this problem/error and suggest some solution for me.

Hi Walter,

IDriver may not have installed properly. Try to check if the following files in C:Program FilesCommon FilesInstallShieldDriver8Intel 32 are there:

 

_ISRES1033.dll

IDriver.exe

IScript8.dll

ISRT.dll

IUser8.dll

objps8.dll

 

If so, try these steps:

1. Click on the Start button, type in the search bar the following:

a. Regsvr32 /IScript8.dll

b. Regsvr32 /ISRT.dll

c. Regsvr32 /IUser8.dll

d. Regsvr32 /objps8.dll

e. Then, run idriver /regserver.

 

If it works after that, the problem has to do with installation of IDriver engine itself.

Install Shield Error has occurred 1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance

This is a very common problem that installers can have. In short, the computer tries to install the necessary drivers for this device and the error that ensues happens usually because of system privileges. It does not seem to be a hardware issue.

Like stated previously, one of the ways to solve this problem is by removing some entries from regedit; however, Microsoft created a patch which will automatically and safely do this for you. This is the most advisable way to take care of this problem in order to avoid meddling with the registry.

Hello,

I believe following methods will be helpful in resolving the error you are encountering.

Method 1. You can try the ‘Fix it’ tool which will help you to diagnose and fix the installation problems automatically. This tool enables you to escape the wear and tear of the re-installation process.

Method 2: Try the method implemented on the Microsoft Support website that resolves errors related to Install field.
