I am logged on as a system administrator on my computer running on 64-bit Windows 7 Professional when I encountered an error while installing FileZilla.
I ran the setup file FileZilla_3.5.3_win32-setup.exe, and when it asked if I will be running the program as the current user or as Administrator, I chose current user. I clicked the Next button all throughout the installation process, but it's when the error appeared:
FileZilla Client 3.5.3 Setup
Â
Error opening file for writing:Â
Â
C:Program Files (x86) FileZilla FTP Client filezilla.exe
Â
Click Abort to stop the installation,Â
Retry to try again, orÂ
Ignore to skip this file.
Â
I tried to click on retry and ignore button but won’t work so I end up cancelling the installation.
Â
What am I doing wrong?
Â
Can anyone please help me install FileZilla?
Installation Error of FileZilla 3.5.3 on 64-bit Windows 7 Professional
Hi,
I will help you to solve your problem. The FileZilla software you are trying to install is an x86 or 32 bit software. Download and try x64 or 64 bit version from FileZilla website. This time installs as Administrator. It should install smoothly. 32 bits is not recommended for 64 bit system.

Have you ever tried to run it as Administrator? Filezilla should work properly and is supported by different platforms such as Windows, Linux and Mac regardless if it is 32 or 64 Bit. As an alternative solution, try downloading the latest version of FileZilla and run it as Administrator. Hope this once helps.
Installation Error of FileZilla 3.5.3 on 64-bit Windows 7 Professional
Since you have 64-bit Windows 7, that problem probably happened because you installed the 32-bit version of the program. FileZilla is provided in two separate versions: 32-bit and 64-bit. The 32-bit version should be installed on 32-bit platforms and the 64-bit for 64-bit platforms. Since you have 64-bit Windows 7, you should install the 64-bit version of FileZilla to properly use it.
To download the latest client, go to FileZilla Client for 64-bit Windows. The latest version of the client at the moment, FileZilla 3.39.0, supports Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 both 32-bit and 64-bit. By default, FileZilla downloads the 64-bit client. For users with supported 32-bit platforms, go to FileZilla Client for 32-bit Windows. Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Vista are no longer supported.
This should fix the problem.
