Windows Vista Internet Connection or Virus Issue

My laptop restarted, when it came back  the looping Windows Advanced Booting Options appears. Upon choosing from its options, all of it had the same effect and it does not resolve my problem. I change the value of my SATA to IDE to AHCI something. Luckily, I was able to open my windows but it was really, really slow and everything there is not working. My firewall cannot be adjusted to on or off. And there is no options for disabling my anti virus if it's the one blocking on my system.

My internet has an error too. It is connected but limited or no connectivity. Clicking the start button will took a few minutes before it drop up to show the menu.  Opening control panel or any other applications had the same effects. Is this another kind of virus? I opened my Device Manager, I saw a yellow with exclamation point beside the Network Adapters. I troubleshoot the problem of my internet connection and it says, my driver has to be updated. How can I search for an updated version I lost my connection at first. I am using ESET Smart Security 4 as my anti virus, why is it interfering with my internet connection? I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Please help me.

  • The basic problem appears to be installation with a SATA option selected in BIOS.
  • It appears the operating system was not loading because of the SATA/IDE problem. The windows started working because the settings in the BIOS for SATA were required to be changed to IDE/AHCI.
  • The problem will be solved if the OS partition is formatted and a fresh Windows is installed.
  • This will solve all conflicts as well as the antivirus program. The problem of the device showing a yellow mark next to it will get fixed with a installation of the correct driver if the same problem persists with a reinstall of the OS.

It leave me no choice but to reformat my Windows operating system. I have lots of issues to get fix so I just decided to perform a fresh installation. But before doing that, I made a back up of all my data's and files. Thank you for sending suggestions.
