Hello there,

Recently I have updated my iTunes and I now I have some difficulties to connect my iPad. I know what my device isn’t eligible for the requested build and before the update it worked just fine. Now can anyone help me with this? What should I do, in the future should I make the updates or stay with the current version?

Thanks!

The iPad “iPad” could not be restored. This device isn’t eligible for the requested build.

Hello,

In order to fix this issue, you have to edit a “Hosts” file that contains the issue fix.

  1. From “Finder”, click “Go” >> “Go to Folder”.
  2. Type “/etc/” and click “Go”.
  3. Find out the document called “Hosts”. Open it.
  4. Find the line “74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com” and remove it.
  5. Save the file using “Save AS” on your desktop. Don’t miss to uncheck “if no extension is provided, use .txt”.
  6. Make a backup of the original “Hosts” file.
  7. Drag ‘n’ drop the newly edited “Hosts” file and replace into “/etc/” folder.

Now your task should go fine.

In the case of Windows PC, the file is situated on “C:WindowsSystem32driversetc”. You have to edit the file as it was told before using Notepad with administrator privilege.
