Hello,
This is the error I have every time I want to install an Intelligent Platform to my PC with Windows Server 2008 (x86). I don’t know why I have this error since I already have installed Windows Server 2008. I can’t understand and I don’t know how this error can be fixed. Does anyone have any idea on how I can solve this one? Why I can’t install IPMI since I meet all the requirements?
Thank you!
The IPMI driver only supports Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008
OK
The IPMI driver only supports Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008
The IPMI driver is a WDM kernel mode driver or Windows Driver Model that interacts with the BMC or Baseboard Management Controller by means of KCS or Keyboard Controller Style. This IPMI driver is displayed in the Device Manager as Microsoft SMBIOS Generic IPMI Compliant Device. The IPMI driver or Microsoft Intelligent Platform Management Interface driver and the WMI IPMI provider provide data from BMC operations to the operating system.
By default, the Microsoft IPMI driver is not installed on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 and later supported operating systems. To install it, click Start, Control Panel, and Add or Remove Programs. On the left panel, click Add/Remove Windows Components. See image.
Scroll down and select “Management and Monitoring Tools” and then click Details. See image.
On the next screen, select Hardware Management and then click Next. It will start the installation wizard. Just follow the instructions to install the Microsoft IPMI driver. Now, to verify that the installation was successful, click Start, Control Panel, and select System. Select Hardware tab then click Device Manager. Click View then select “Show hidden devices”. See image.
Expand “System devices”. If Microsoft IPMI driver is installed properly, you will see the device named “Microsoft Generic IPMI Compliant Device”.
